Walnut tree is a large tree attaining heights of 100 feet. It is huge.
Walnut tree is grown in all over the world, from China in Asia, to California. It is global.
Walnut contains many antioxidants and phytochemicals. It is the best non-fish source of Omega-3 and the cholesterol content is none. It is healthy.
Walnut has a very precious wood. It is handsome.
Perhaps all those reputations above; or maybe those delicious nuts that that are at their best when baked into Holiday cookies and brownies, at any rate walnut establishment and culture had always attracted me. So it had to be Walnut. This is what we did.
As of 2014, the orchard is at its sixth year now. Still there is quite some time until the first big harvest there: a harvest reflecting all the glory the tree deserves. It is hopefully will be the heritage of our family and of the ties that make it come true.
So, the same orchard made us fall in love with walnut, the fruit, as we started living with it. To our surprise, as we took time to learn more about it, we’ve observed that walnut is not as dedicatedly received and cherished at the end user as it is at the grove.
The growers and processors all dedicate themselves to the best of their orchards all around the year, never putting the health of the trees or the quality of their fruit at risk. Varieties Chandler, Hartley, Tulare, Howard, Payne, Waterloo… Each and every one of them reflects different taste, flavor and its own story from planting, growing to the harvest every year. But they are very little known by most of us. On the contrary, walnut usually loses their identity- even freshness most of the time- at groceries shelved together with their so-called folks: almonds, pistachios, and peanuts, etc. Or, if luckily stacked in the produce section, it is often presented in plastic trays covered with films with no differentiating features at all, no humane touch.
I believe Walnut is a special food the God bestowed on us, among all the others. It is tasty and with exceptional nutritional values and health benefits. It deserves more: more at packers, more at the wholesalers, more at the groceries and finally more at the eaters. I would be happy if we can be of any service to this goal.
I should confess the entrepreneurial challenge of this business might be of some interest for a MBAed engineer like me, yet, I should tell that I know this is not the business to make a place at Fortune-500. This is not the mission anyhow. Anybody can sell a good-quality product for a high price, or a poor-quality product for a low price. But to sell good products at low prices, you need to develop methods that are both cost-effective and innovative and have a humane way of doing it. Here is UsaWalnuts way of business:
We dedicate this business to walnuts only in the same fashion as the growers dedicate themselves to their groves. Here in this store we will only sell walnuts, nothing else but walnuts. This way, we like being the first e-store dedicated to sales of walnuts, retail or wholesale.
The consumers should eat the best walnut this country produces. The U.S. of America produces the 40 percent of the World production.
The consumer should eat the best walnut at fair prices. Now most of the U.S. consumers buy walnut at very expensive prices compared to the prices it is shipped to the market by growers and handlers.
The consumer should eat the walnut fresh. Now most of the U.S. consumers can come across a package of walnut which is even a year old in grocery shelves and still in its printed shelf life term.
We believe that children are the most important people in the world. They should be growing eating the fresh and the best quality walnuts.
USAWalnuts offers a wide range of high-quality, fresh walnut at prices so low that as many people as possible will be able to buy and enjoy them.
Similarly, Our Wholesale customers should get the best Walnut this country produces at the most fair price.
In order to achieve our way of business we commit to purchase walnuts from GoldRiver Orchards, grower and processor of walnuts, as our sole supplier. Since 1912, GoldRiver Orchards have strived to maintain the Barton family heritage of hard work, living close to the land, and being good stewards of the farm. They’re always proud to put their family name on every package of California Walnuts.
Gold River Orchards
GoldRiver Orchards is our sole supplier of walnuts, both inshell or shelled walnuts. UsaWalnuts.com (a division of B&C Trade) here offers the best quality Fresh Selectproduct of GoldRiver Orchards in pouches.
For the Bartons, owner of GoldRiver Orchards, the theme is “Walnuts R Us”. It’s all they grow, and they’ve been at it for nearly a hundred years now. Loving their land and trying the best to be a good steward of it, the Barton Family outstands among all growers in California with select quality and excellent business practices.
GoldRiver Orchards operates under strict HACCP guidelines that are documented and tracked daily. All of the outgoing shipments are graded and certified by the American Council for Food Safety and Quality. This organization serves under the auspices of the United States Department of Agriculture as the official enforcement agency of the industry’s grades and standards.
While all of GoldRiver’s shipments receive the ACFSQ certification for quality, GoldRiver has set a much higher quality standard. For example, what many packers consider “high spec” material is routinely packed by GoldRiver Orchards as its standard pack. This commitment to quality includes a series of rigorous checks before each bin of walnuts is passed to the next step in the processing procedure.
All products are cleaned, sorted, passed through magnets and metal detection equipment, and is sampled and analyzed the day it is packed to ensure that the strict quality standards are being met. And until those standards are met, nothing leaves the plant.
Fresh Select Shelled Walnuts is a specially packed product with new crop, guaranteed. It is all natural and contains no preservatives. Fresh Select Shelled Walnuts is filled with all the goodness and freshness that come from the current year crop while most other brands may use both this year’s and last year’s crop.
